2.1 Numbers Sense
Have you ever tried to think of really big numbers?  Can you imagine how big a million of something might look? In a large anthill, there can live about a million ants.  

Imagine the number one billion (1,000,000,000) as a stack of one crown Swedish coins.    A billion one crown coins would be 1,900 km high.  That would be a 250 km longer than the distance between Ystad and Kiruna.

As you might notice, it is sometimes difficult to comprehend how big large numbers actually can be.  The better sense you have for quantities and which numbers that are associated with them, the easier it will be for you to think about mathematics.
