5.1 Approximation
A very useful and important skill is to be able to approximate the size of a number. To be able to sense the number’s size and be able to compare this in different situations is an example of numbers sense.

One example could be if you were purchasing different goods in a grocery store and only have 300 crowns to spend. Then you should have a sense of how much you can buy with these 300 crowns.

If you hear that a liter of milk costs 90 crowns, you should consider if this sounds reasonable. Most likely, you have made a mistake with a decimal and that the answer should instead be 9 crowns.
